Coe and Haggard...it don't get better than this! Jul 30, 2004
By Tank FANTASTIC! Every song on here is classic. David puts his heart and soul and talent into every brilliantly crafted Haggard song. EXCELLENT!

He does look like Merle Haggard after all... Sep 30, 2003
By Dean Clement Okay well my roommate brought this tape home last week and i knew it was going to be a great. I am a pretty big David Allan Coe fan, which is saying a lot because I am not a very big Country Music fan, but I do love DAC, Hank Jr., Waylon, and Im a fan of Merle Haggard's. I could hardly believe it when i saw that he had recorded a bunch of Merle's songs. He starts out with the classic hard-luck-outlaw-loner song Mama Tried and DAC does it justice. He stays pretty true to the originals, but my favorite parts of the album are when he does those little spoken interludes and reflects on his time in prison and on death row during Sing Me Back Home, and when he talks about how it used to be back in the day. If you are a David Allan Coe fan or a Merle Haggard fan or both then you should buy this, but who am I kidding if you are a fan of either or both, you probably aren't going to be looking online to buy thier albums...
