T at her best and that's the best country has to offer... Aug 24, 2006

Tanya Tucker's personal life has sometimes overshadowed her professional career. But nothing overshadows this absolutely perfect career retrospective. Every big hit is here and they are a great representation of country music at its best.From the initial smash, Delta Dawn to the newer hits like Soon and Hangin In, Tanya's smokey, sultry voice dazzles. It's a shame that country stars of a certain age are no longer played on mainstream country stations. I recently saw Tanya in concert and she's still got the voice and the charisma that made her a star while she was still in her teens. All four cds are A+ entertainment.

GREAT ORIGINAL MUSIC, 1986 TO 1994. May 11, 2010

"Tanya Tucker", has here among some major hits some great album tracks.
Irregardless of the number of 'hits' that are here, this set is nonstop good listening!
This 1994, four disc, 58 track box set includes 36 (26 ? see note) of the 61 songs
that made the chart to the point of this sets release, plus three b-sides.
"You just watch me" was a top twenty hit in 1994, and is the last release to be included here.
Tucker went on to have four more songs chart through 1997.
Although there are 19 songs here that didnt chart, (29 depending how you look at it)
here are some great album cuts, plus eight previously unreleased tracks.
Major hits ARE here, these 23 top ten tracks are great,
it is also refreshing to have this much variety in one great collection.
Here's a few you may remember:
"I'll come back as another woman"
"Love me like you used to"
"Down to my last teardrop"
"Some kind of trouble"
"It's a little too late"
"Hangin' in"
This is a worth while compilation.
Here is 3 hours and 15 minutes of constant good music,
that is certianly worth owning.
The 46 page booklet, measures 5 1/2 x 11 1/2 inches, with extensive liner notes.
There's more than 50 pictures of Tanya with other celebrities.
Plus a large variety of her with her family, her sister LaCosta,
her children, and of course in concert.
LaCosta, is also a country singer, though not as sucessful as Tanya,
had 14 songs chart from 1974 to 1982.
The booklet also contains a hugh amount of information about Tanya and her career.
Footnote: The first ten tracks here are RE-RECORDED songs
from the 1990 c.d. "Greatest hits Encore",
when Tucker re-recorded some of her hits for the purpose of ownership.
So for the purpose of orgininal recordings, this box set actually starts in 1986,
and contains 26 of the 27 songs to chart between 1986 and 1994.
The 1993 release, "Already gone" is not here.
The album tracks are also taken from that pocket of time.
All that's offered here to represent the pocket of time from Tucker's first hit
in 1972 to 1986 is the ten re-recorded hits.
However, they ARE very well done, and are a nice addition to this set.
Tucker had 33 songs chart form her first hit in 1972,
to the point where this set starts with original recordings in 1986.

Footnote: The best hits set to date seems to be 'The upper 48 hits 1972 - 1997',
you'll find there extensive comments of whats contained on that collection,
at that location, titled 'An unsurpassed compilation'.
