George's second 20 hits Feb 18, 2003
By Peter Durward Harris
"Pete the music fan"
Continuing where the first volume finished, this set contains the hits spanning the period from the start of 1988 to early 1993. George maintained the same basic style that had been successful before, the only real difference being the songs. George did change his style more, later in the nineties, but those changes came after these tracks were recorded.Among the classic songs here you can find Famous last words of a fool, Baby's gotten goodbye and Love without end amen. Overnight male was not officially released as a single, but received a lot of airplay. With the country singles chart being based on radio play instead of sales, the airplay it received pushed it into the bottom end of the chart, qualifying it as a hit. Apart from Overnight male, the only other hit that didn't make the country top ten was George's cover of Lovesick blues. Apparently, many radio stations refused to play it because it features George yodelling. There is no volume three as such, although Latest greatest straitest hits covers the period from 1994 to 1999 and the intervening hits can be found on George's 1993 album, Easy come easy go.
